Originally known as Waterbury Clock until they
were renamed in the mid 70s, Timex is an American company who
started over 150 years ago in 1854.
During this time Timex have made clocks and
watches not just for the general public, but for the military
and Walt Disney too.
Timex was the first to launch a women's brand
of watches, in 1959, as well to include low-priced electronic
watches for men and women and introduce electroluminescent (indiglo)
faces.
In 1986 Timex introduced its "Ironman Triathlon" a sports watch
devised by athletes as well as industrial designers. Within a
year it became America's best-selling watch, which lead to the
creation of a whole range that continues to be one of the
world's favourite and most innovative brands today.
