Which Walking Accessory?
Walking is one of the best and easiest ways of exercising to improve
fitness and lose weight. Walking is free, sociable, you don’t need
equipment, or even have to be fit to start with to walk. Plus with small
adjustments in your daily routine you can make a big difference to how far
you walk and so you may not even need to set aside leisure time to go for
a walk if you lead a busy life.
Whether your walking for leisure, fitness or to lose weight, it is
always really encouraging to see how far you have gone, to set targets and
smash them, and to see what you have achieved.
It is probably because of this that walking accessory pedometers,
have become so popular. But with so many walking accessories to choose from
how do you know you’re getting the right one?
We’ve had a look at some of the walking accessories currently available
and think we've got some of the best accessories for walkers available. So here they are for you to compare and help you decide if you
want a pedometer or other walking accessory, and if so which would be best
for you.

Omron HJ113 Aerobic
Pedometer
The most expensive at £29.99, however this pedometer doesn't just
count steps. Due to having a movement sensor that makes it
97% accurate
this walking accessory can also be used to measure aerobic activities such as
running, dancing etc. Plus it does not need to be worn on your hip to
work, pop it in your bag or pocket and no one will even know you are
recording calories, steps, distance, time and fat burned.

Tanita Calorie Walk PedometerFrom £12.99 it’s the cheapest pedometer I’ve found made by a
well-known and reliable brand. It does the bare minimum, counting
steps and calories burned, however it doesn’t convert your steps into
distance.

Omron HJ-109 Pedometer
Slightly
more expensive from £14.99, but as well as steps and calories it
calculates distance (kilometres) and has a clock. It also has a seven-day
memory so only need to record you progress once a week.

Oregon Scientific Panic Alarm Pedometer
With the added accessory it comes in at £19.99 but is still
outstanding value due to being
superbly designed with safety in mind. You get the standard steps,
calories, distance (miles), clock, plus timer, backlight and the
all-important panic alarm. Also quite unique in its design as there is no need
to flip open the pedometer to read the display as it already faces upwards
for easy reading.
