For anyone on a diet or fitness program going on holiday can start to look more like hard work when the thought of dinning out, or not going to the gym threatens to blow all the good work you’ve done leading up to it.
So instead of worrying about how many extra calories were in that pudding, or how many calories you would have burned at the gym, have a go at some of our gym alternatives to include in your daily activities.
CYCLING |
City or country this is a quick & cheap way to explore a new area at your own pace. Just contact the local tourist information office for bike hire companies & cycle routes. |
RESISTANCE TRAINING |
Plan ahead & take a Dyna-Band with you, much smaller than the gym machines & even traditional Resistance Tubes (which you could also take if you already have), you won’t even notice the space they’ve used in your suitcase and they come complete with illustrated instructs for exercises. |
SWIMMING |
If your going somewhere with a pool or by the sea go for a swim early in the morning or early evening to avoid the crowds. This will also give you a boast of energy for the day or evening ahead.
|
TREADMILL / CROSS TRAINNER |
Explore the local area on foot & go searching for that perfect souvenir. Take or buy a Frisbee, Football, Rugby Ball, etc…anything to get people running around, and a great way to meet others. |
WEIGHTS |
You’ll probably do a bit of this without even realising. Packing/un-packing, lifting suitcases in/out of cars & pulling them around airports can certainly work up a sweat, & there’s always more on the way back!

GENERAL AEROBICS |
Put on your dancing shoes & taste the nightlife wherever you are. |
