The Traffic Light Diet
This diet book is for people who want something really
simple that encourages healthy eating and fits in with their
daily lifestyle.
Basically The Traffic Light Diet splits foods into three
groups based on a combination of how high in fat and calories
they are and their relative nutrition value. To follow the
diet you simply eat foods according to the traffic light
system.
Green Foods - Eat as
much as you like
Amber Foods - Eat
moderate amounts
Red Foods - Eat very
occasionally or in very small amounts
The book includes a comprehensive list of foods giving
their traffic light status plus advice on portion sizes for
different people. It also has a selection of easy to prepare
recipes, a variety of seven day diet plans and a helpful
section on exercise.
The Traffic Light Diet is based on all the main
recommendations of the 2004 Commons Select Committee report on
obesity. This comes through in the book's 'healthy eating'
approach. The idea being that if you eat healthily (and not
too much) you'll lose weight. Great for those who are able to
(honestly) limit portion sizes but perhaps not measured enough
for those less disciplined.
